Black Tusk Athletics, a premier Personal Training and Group Class studio in Edmonton is a gym dedicated to the health and fitness community. Located on the heart of Parkview and Crestwood in Edmonton, our gym offers functional strength and fitness group classes, semi-private sessions, personal training and seminars.


Who Should Being Doing Strength & Conditioning Programs?

In short, everyone. The first time trying anything out can be daunting, that is why we are here. Our welcoming environment and knowledgeable coaching is dedicated to relieve some of that anxiety. We believe our Functional Fitness training can be for anyone from teenagers to grandparents and everyone in between. Whether you’ve never exercised in a gym before or you’re a varsity athlete, there are ways everyone can improve their body and mind. Once you start, you’ll feel right at home and forget why you were nervous in the first place. 

We encourage a balanced approach to training which includes getting out there and do what you love! Hiking, yoga, hockey, running, etc. Whatever it is, we just want to be part of your routine and help you be the healthiest you can be.

How’s Training Structured?

Personal Training: Our ethos when it comes to health & wellness is helping you first. We do not discriminate goals. Whatever your goal is, our aim is to help you get there. Our prescriptive approach is to lead you to the path that best aligns with your goals. We pair customized programs with attentive professional trainers, making this option the best choice for your specific needs!

Semi-Private Training: This is our option for those of us who want or need a bridge between Personal Training and Group Classes; whether the reasons are to reduce the financial barrier to personal training or feelings of intimidation in a larger group class. Semi-private training may be the class of choice for you. We want to support you the best we can through providing focusing attention, guidance and time to educate and individualize the programming to fit your needs.

Group Classes: You can expect to see 10-12 familiar faces in our Group Classes. Every class will start with your coach running through a full body warm-up, typically reflective of what the Strength and WOD (Work Out of the Day) will be. After the warm up, athletes will then be led onto the strength/technique portion of the class, then the Daily WOD. Depending on the day’s class programming, the WOD is where you will put everything you’ve just learned into practice. Be ready for a sweaty workout that can range anywhere from two to thirty or more minutes!

The goal of these classes are to teach safe and effective movement while building strength in a fun encouraging space.
